(Another bonus post!? Guys, I’m on a roll!)
My kids are the best. Seriously.
I know all parents say that, but Ella and Olivia — they take the cake.
There’s a five-year age gap between them (ages 7 and 12), meaning they’re at very different stages of their development. And as much as I love having real talk with Ella (age 12), there’s something magical about Olivia’s age (7) — where her imagination still runs wild, she’s unapologetically curious, and she gently (or sometimes not so gently) challenges ideas she doesn’t understand or agree with.
Children under the age of seven spend most of their time in what's called the theta brainwave state — a natural state of imagination, emotional openness, and subconscious absorption. They live closer to wonder, to intuition, to the unseen currents of life that adults often forget how to trust. In adults, theta usually happens during deep meditation or just before sleep — but for young kids like Olivia, it’s their dominant everyday state.
For Spring Break this year, we took a trip to Wilmington, NC. We stayed in an incredible community of houseboats on the Cape Fear River, right by the ocean.
It was beautiful, serene, relaxing — but also a cool and unique experience.
These weren’t your traditional houseboats; they were full-on condos on water.
I’m talking two floors, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and an epic covered balcony off the back. If we hadn’t walked down the dock to arrive, you would have never known we were even on a boat.
While relaxing on the balcony, the boat gently bobbing beneath us, Olivia asked the question:
“Why doesn’t the houseboat float away?”
I told her, "They're tied down by a rope.”
She paused, furrowed her brow, and said: "Just a rope? That’s all? I don’t believe that!"
(For the record, I think she loves challenging me more than anyone else.)
She stared out over the wide water, contemplating my answer.
A tiny line, holding back the pull of the entire ocean?
It didn’t seem possible.
It didn’t seem enough.
But it was.
And her question stuck with me.
Because my wide-eyed, brilliant Olivia asked a question that spoke straight to my soul.
Without even realizing it, she observed a deeper truth.
Because isn’t that how it feels sometimes in life?
We wonder how we’re still here.
How we haven’t floated out to sea.
How we’re still tethered when the storms come.
And the answer is:
It’s not something you always see.
It’s something you feel.
Something you trust.
As someone always looking for the deeper meaning in everything (I mean, I exhaust myself sometimes), I sat with her question.
And this is what came to me:
That rope is like our intuition.
Our connection to our True Self.
Our internal compass, even when everything around us feels overwhelming or uncertain.
It’s easy to doubt it.
"How could something so small — just a feeling, just a whisper — possibly hold me steady?"
But it does.
Intuition isn't loud.
It isn’t flashy.
It doesn’t shout over the noise.
It’s steady.
It’s constant.
It tugs at you just enough to remind you:
You’re still anchored. You’re still safe. You’re still being guided home.
And yes, it gets tested.
The rope sways.
It pulls.
The boat moves.
But it never breaks.
When I think about my own journey, to the times I felt lost, disconnected, unmoored — I realize now:
It wasn’t that I didn’t have a rope.
It was that I didn’t know how to trust it.
I thought I needed something bigger. Louder. Stronger.
I thought safety lived in outside validation, achievements, other people’s approval.
But all along, my inner guidance was there.
Quietly holding me.
Waiting for me to believe in it.
And this is what I’ve learned — in my life, in my work, in every woman’s story I’ve witnessed:
You don’t need to build a bigger boat.
You don’t need to fight the tide.
You just need to strengthen your connection to what’s already inside you.
You need to find your rope.
Trust your journey.
Believe that the quiet knowing inside you is enough.Faith isn’t loud. It’s steady.
And it’s already holding you — even now.
✨ Reflection Questions:
Where in your life are you waiting for “proof” instead of trusting your knowing?
What does your invisible rope — your intuition — feel like? How does it speak to you?
Where can you soften your grip, trust your rope, and let your journey unfold?
✨ Aligned Action:
This next practice is taken directly from my From Grind to Align E-Book — a 40+ page guided workbook designed to walk you, step-by-step, away from fear-based motivation and toward alignment.
This exercise will help you strengthen your connection with your intuition — and the version of yourself that is ready to hold the life you truly want.
Try this:
Create a quiet space where you can sit comfortably without distractions.
Close your eyes and take several deep breaths, allowing your mind to settle and your body to relax.
As you breathe, focus on the sensation of the air entering and leaving your body, becoming fully present.
Visualize a gentle light within you, representing your intuition.
Imagine this light growing brighter with each breath, filling you with warmth and clarity.
When you feel ready, bring to mind a question or decision you’re contemplating.
As you consider each option, notice any physical sensations or emotions that arise.
Does one choice bring a sense of peace or excitement, while another feels heavy or constricting? The response that feels peaceful, lighter, and more expansive is your intuition guiding you.
Strengthening your intuition is a practice. The more you tune in and trust it, the stronger and more reliable it becomes. Be patient with yourself as you build this connection — it is the beacon that guides you back home to yourself.

In everything, i need a sign to know when I seek the internal instead of external, i already know.
What does your invisible rope — your intuition — feel like? How does it speak to you?
It has no words; it's a feeling of inner connectedness.
Where can you soften your grip, trust your rope, and let your journey unfold?
